YEREVAN. - Ara Gharagyozyan and Hayarpi Sarsgyan, the attorneys of Sasna Tsrer armed group member Hovhannes Harutyunyan, will apply to the Committee for the Prevention of Torture to request his urgent operation.  

Ghragyozyan told the aforementioned to journalists on Tuesday.

“The medical assistance provided to Hovhannes Harutyunyan isn’t proper. We will apply to the Committee for the Prevention of Torture so that he can be urgently operated. Only the doctors of the Prisoners’ Hospital have visited Hovhannes, who has pains in his leg. He must be placed to an ordinary hospital, Yerevan’s Erebouni Medical Center, where he should be operated on and receive medical assistance,” the attorney said.   

Hovhannes Harutyunyan was wounded on July 26, following which he was taken to hospital.  He faces charges under Article 219.3.1 and 235.3 of the Armenian Criminal Code. Arrest is enforced against him as a precautionary measure.
