The Canadian government has politely asked Americans not to bring their guns into the country, The Telegraph reported.

“It is strongly recommended that you not carry your firearm when travelling to Canada and/or transiting through Canada to reach another US destination. However, should you choose to travel with your firearms, you must declare all firearms in your possession at the first Canadian designated port of entry”, the statement says.

As it is noted, this request is caused by frequent cases of attempts to import prohibited weapons to the territory of Canada by Americans. So, a week ago the Canada Border Services confiscated firearms from two Texans on border with the U.S..

Canada and the U.S. have very different approaches to gun laws. If the Americans have the right to possess and carry weapons in public places in accordance with the Constitution, the Canadians need to get corresponding permission for it. As a rule, it is forbidden to carry weapon in public.
