Vladimir Putin laid bouquet of red roses at grave of Uzbekistan’s  first president Islam Karimov in Samarkand. After arrival Putin went straight to the cemetery where Karimov was buried on September 3, RIA Novosti reported.

The Russian leader honored memory of the first president of Uzbekistan together with the prime minister of the republic

Karimov died at the age of 78 on Friday. The next day the politician was buried at the at the cemetery near the historic monument of Shahi Zinda in Samarkand by Muslim traditions.

After the death of Karimov the chairman of the upper house of parliament Nigmatilla Yuldashev became the acting president of Uzbekistan. At the same time the commission on the organization of a funeral of the head of state was headed by the Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
