YEREVAN. – National Assembly (NA) of Armenia Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov, who also heads the NA Armenia-Argentina Parliamentary Friendship Group and is on a working visit to Argentina, on Monday met with Gustavo Rodolfo Zlauvinen, Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship of Argentina, in Buenos Aires.
The interlocutors recorded that bilateral relations are developing comprehensively and with dynamism. They also mutually stressed the need for further expansion and intensification of economic ties.
The NA deputy speaker expressed gratitude that the legislative, executive and judicial authorities of Argentina have recognized and condemned Armenian Genocide. Sharmazanov also noted that, by condemning this tragedy, Argentina reiterates the undisputable fact that it is a democratic country.
During the meeting they also touched upon regional matters, and the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.
Speaking about the Karabakh conflict, Eduard Sharmazanov noted that the world is moving on the triumphant road of the right to self-determination. He emphasized, however, that negotiations do no good yet because of Azerbaijan’s destructive position. As per Sharmazanov, unless the arrangements reached at the Vienna and Saint Petersburg summits are implemented, it will be hard to expect any progress in the negotiation process.
Zlauvinen, for his part, noted that Argentina supports solely a peaceful settlement to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
