YEREVAN. - We are concerned by the policy of Azerbaijan, the evidence of which was also the April war unleashed by Azeris, which left many dead and wounded.

The leader of the Socialist faction of the French National Assembly (NA) Bruno Le Roux said the aforementioned at the meeting with the Armenian NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan on Friday.

During the meeting, Galust Sahakyan noted that such meetings contribute to the further deepening and development of the Armenian-French ties. Referring to the recognition of the Armenian Genocide and Karabakh conflict, he stressed that in both cases Armenia always felt the support of the French colleagues. The NA Speaker expressed hope that the French parliament will be consistent in introducing and adopting a new bill on the criminalization of the Armenian Genocide denial.

Condemning the cruel terror attacks in Paris and Nice, Sahakyan assured that Armenia always stands by the side of friendly France.  He also highly appreciated the activity of the friendship group, stressing the significant contribution of their leaders in the development of the inter-parliamentary relations.  

For his part, the Socialist Party leader Bruno Le Roux thanked for the warm reception, noting that they are happy to visit Armenia on the days of the 25th anniversary of Armenia’s and Karabakh’s independence. Touching on the recognition of the Armenian Genocide, the head of the delegation noted that everything possible is being done for the adoption of the law combining the Armenian Genocide recognition and the criminalization of its denial.  

Bruno Le Roux expressed concern about the policy of Azerbaijan. He noted that the French deputies visited the Contact Line last year and got familiarized with the problems of the local resident. According to him, they expressed readiness to help the Karabakh youth. And now these projects have already turned into reality, Bruno Le Roux said.

The importance of maximally enhancing the Armenian-French economic ties was also underscored at the meeting.
