A re-run of Austria's presidential election scheduled for October 2 looks set to be postponed for an indefinite term, Interior Minister Wolfgang Sobotka stated.

This was happened on technical grounds - because the glue will not stick on postal vote forms. As a result, envelopes with vote forms could be opened. Sobotka said that could  not estimate how many envelopes and which could be opened, BBC reported.

Mr Sobotka said on Friday that it was unlikely the problems could be resolved in time for the 2 October date. According to him, the elections will be postponed until November 27 or December 4.

The repeat election was announced when the Constitutional court of Austria annulled the results of the second round of elections due to numerous violations during the vote.

The candidate of the far-right Austrian Freedom Party Norbert Hofer and former leader of the Green party Alexander Van der Bellen who won with a minimum difference of 30 thousand votes participated in the second round.
