Turkey is heading towards the regime of terror, announced the Nobel Prize-winning Turkish writer Orhan Pamuk , strongly condemning the arrest of a well-known writer and journalist Ahmet Altan and his brother , an academician, Mehmet Altan.

" In Turkey, we are progressively putting behind bars all people who take the liberty of voicing even the slightest criticism of the government Freedom of thought no longer existed . We are distancing ourselves at high speed from a state of law and heading towards a regime of terror,”  said Pamuk .

According to the AFP , Orhan Pamuk has called to release the arrested people “as soon as possible.”

As earlier reported, Altan brothers were arrested on September 10, based on the investigation of the attempted coup. According to the Turkish media , the reason of the arrest is the participation of one of the brothers before the riot in the Can Erzincan TV channel program,  which the Turkish authorities consider to be the closest station of Fethullah Gülen’s movement .

Can Erzincan TV has been closed, and the program with Altan’s participation  has not been  broadcasted. Another prominent journalist and writer Nazli Ilichak, who participated in that program, was also arrested.
