The restricted format session of the Council of CIS Heads of States has kicked off in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on Friday.

President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, who is on a working visit to Kyrgyzstan, is also attending the session, which is chaired by Kazakhstan President Almazbek Atambayev,

The meeting, which was conducted first in the restricted and later in an extended format, will address issues related to the cooperation of the member states in the political, economic, humanitarian and security areas, as well as over a dozen of issues related to countering the new challenges and threats, the press-service of the Armenian President reports.

The discussions will be followed by a document signing ceremony. The results of the Council’s works will be recapped by the Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Sergei Lebedev at the meeting with the representatives of mass media.

In Bishkek, the Presidents are expected to sign a Presidential Declaration on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the CIS in which they will summarized the results of the activities carried out by the Organization in the last twenty-five years, as well as specify the prospects of the expansion and deepening of the cooperation in the framework of bringing the CIS in line with the existing reality.
