The Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed the situation in Syria with the US Secretary of State John Kerry on the telephone, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry website. The conversation took place on the initiative of the American side.

“The focus was made on the implementation of the Russia-U.S. agreement of September 9 aiming to launch a peace process in Syria, to relieve the humanitarian situation, and to organize joint efforts against terrorism,” the ministry says.

Kerry and Lavrov also discussed the urgent need to ensure humanitarian access to Syria. Lavrov drew attention to the violation of ceasefire regime by illegal armed groups.

Earlier, it was reported that the US Army will move the observation aircrafts from other parts of the region and increase the number of intelligence analysts to co-ordinate actions with Russia within the framework of the agreement on cease-fire in Syria.
