Thailand’s police for the first time claimed that “some Thais, mainly in the far South”, have links and provide support to the Islamic State, Bangkok Post reported.

Thai authorities made such a statement after Australian police informed them that some groups of Thais were providing financial support to the ISIS. Australian police also found out that over 100,000 Facebook users from Thailand visited ISIS-related online communities.

It was noted that Malaysian, Indonesia and Singaporean nationals have been identified inside Islamic State terrorist group, no Thai ever has been shown or identified as linked to the ISIS group.

It was reported in October that 16 people were arrested for links with terrorist organizations in Malaysia.
