Brazil's President Michel Temer was accused of pressuring a cabinet minister to engage in corrupt practices.

Former Culture Minister Marcelo Calero claimed that Temer asked him to help another minister in a personal business deal, BBC reported.

According to Calero, he was asked to allow construction of luxury apartments in a historic district of Salvador belonging to  Government secretary Geddel Vieira Lima.

The former minister who resigned last week, had previously blocked the project of building. Calero told the police that both the president and the minister pressed on him, demanding to change the decision.

President Temer denied all charges, though admitted that talked to Calero about the building.
