The other new technology employed in Armenia was a low frequency LTE 450 connection band. This has proved to be a breakthrough for the regions of Armenia, which now have an increased access to broadband internet.
“Providing fast internet outside large cities has been a challenge. We are proud to say that Armenia has become just the 3rd country worldwide where this service was applied. Two previous cases had been in Scandinavia, which has extremely high standards and penetration of communication”, Gerchuk said.
VimpelCom is active in 14 countries in Europe, Asia and Africa. It operates in Armenia through ArmenTel, its 100% subsidiary.
