The Armenian delegation led by the Deputy FM Robert Harutyunyan attended the events dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), which took place in Vienna on November 21-24.

The delegation had meetings with the Deputy to the Director-‐General (DDG) Taizo Nishikawa, Managing Director of Programme Development and Technical Cooperation (PTC) Department, Philippe Scholtès, and heads of the organization’s other departments.

At  the meetings the implementation of the current programs and prospects for the expansion of the further cooperation were discussed.

The Armenian side attached importance to country’s interest in deepening cooperation with the organization. The UNIDO representatives, for their part, expressed satisfaction with the successful implementation of industrial, environmental and other programs, as well as the continuous support provided by the Armenian authorities.

On the sidelines of the festivities on occasion of the  50th anniversary, an event entitled “Creativity show – 'New stories of old traditions ”was held on November 22, during which the  new collection of 5900BC trademark created by the technical support of UNIDO’s “Improving Competitiveness of Export-oriented Industries through Modernization and Market Access” program and eight Armenian organizations were presented.

The program implemented in Armenia was selected from among other programs as one of the most exemplary and successful ones.

During the event, Armenian Deputy FM Robert Harutyunyan and Armenian Ambassador to Austria Arman Kirakosyan, who is also the Permanent Representative of Armenia to the UN and other international organizations delivered speeches. They congratulated UNIDO on its 50th anniversary, thanking the Russian Government for providing financial support to the program, as well as UNIDO for implementing the program.  

In the cultural part of the events, renowned Armenian pianist Nare Arghamanyan played the pieces of Aram Khachaturian, Komitas, Arno Babajanyan and Vig Zartman.
