YEREVAN. – The Congress-PPA [i.e. People’s Party of Armenia] bloc is running for parliament with a record number of women at the capital city Yerevan’s Kentron-Nork Marash-Erebuni electoral district, where 7 of the 13 candidates of this alliance are women.

Deputy chairman of the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) Party and head of the ANC National Assembly Faction, Levon Zurabyan, who is third on this bloc’s proportional representation list for the forthcoming parliamentary election in the country, on Wednesday stated about the aforesaid at the talk with the women candidates of this alliance.

“To tell the truth, I don’t understand why women are congratulated on March 8 [i.e. on International Women’s Day],” said the MP. “We [men] should be congratulated for enjoying this happiness, love, whose only source is just you: women, mothers, and daughters. The role of women in our advanced world is growing every second.”

Also, Zurabyan expressed a wish that women in Armenia assume the real role that already exists today in the advanced world.
