It is better to construct a gas pipeline from Albania, instead of Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP), Repubblica reported quoting governor of Italy's Apulia, Michele Emiliano.

According to the new project Eagle, a 110km-long  pipeline will deliver American and Qatari gas to Balkans and Southern Italy.

The new project will cost only € 660 million (compared to 45 billion for TANAP) and will deliver 4 to 8 billion cubic meters of gas per year.

It is possible to finish the project for 2 years.

The Italian energy company Falcione is working on the project of the gas pipeline. According to its representatives, their Eagle project is not only cheaper than TAP, but also is more reliable because the pipeline will not pass through potentially unstable countries.

The project has already been approved by the government of Albania.
