US President Donald Trump formally sent to the Senate CIA director Mike Pompeo’s nomination for the US Secretary of State, the Hill reported.

"Mike is going to do a great job,” Trump said at a GOP fundraiser dinner on Tuesday.

As reported earlier, US President Donald Trump fired Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and nominated CIA Director Mike Pompeo to replace him. The outgoing Cabinet member will hand over his duties effective immediately to Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan.
