The year 2011 is going to be the first post-crisis year of steady development, Gagik Minasyan, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Finance, Credit and Budgetary Affairs, RA Parliament, told journalists Jan 13.
The reason for this forecast is, particularly, “a rather significant 4.6% growth, with industry expected to remain principle economic locomotive.” “An around 10% growth is expected in the agricultural sector. We have much to do in this sector, and our major task is more efficient use of lands, particularly cooperation. The newly appointed Minister of Agriculture is enthusiastic about it. Growth is also expected in the construction and services sectors. Industrial diversification process will go on,” Minasyan said.
He pointed out that the improvement of economic situation necessitates corruption control and economic competition. “In both aspects, the situation leaves much to be desired. Every effort must be taken to ensure flexible market prices and corruption control,” Minasyan said.
