On January 25, U.S. President Barack Obama touched upon wide range if issues during his State of the Union speech delivered in Congress.

The U.S. leader noted that funding of roads, research, education, efficient cars, high-speed rail and other initiatives should be implemented.

Obama proposed to freeze annual domestic spending for the next five years, stressing this would reduce the deficit by more than $400 billion over the next decade, the White House reported.

In his speech U.S. President also spoke of cooperation with other countries, in particular with Russia. He also pointed out positive changes in partnership with India.

American troops will be withdrawn from Afghanistan and Iraq, he stated. “This year, we will work with nearly 50 countries to begin a transition to an Afghan lead.  And this July, we will begin to bring our troops home,” Obama said.

There were 76 applause interruptions during 2011 speech.
