The Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly Ara Babloyan has offered condolences over the passing of legendary French-Armenian singer Charles Aznavour.

"I learned with deep sorrow about the death of our great compatriot, world-famous singer, Armenian national hero Charles Aznavour. He was an entire epoch in the world of pop art, which will remain with humanity forever."

"Today the world lost a truly prominent singer. Meanwhile, Armenia and the entire Armenian nation bid farewell to the greatest Armenian who will remain in the memory of the generations not only with his songs, but also with his public activities and the mighty wave of humanity. And we will always remember our great compatriot with warmth.

At the moment of grave loss, on behalf of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and myself, I express deep condolences to Charles Aznavour's relatives and friends and share their grief, which, however, is the grief of all of us, "reads the message of RA NA Speaker Ara Babloyan.
