In his interview with the Aravot newspaper, Manvel Sargsyan, an expert for the Armenian Center for National and International Studies, pointed out that asking why the coalition forces are discussing their positions on the 2012 elections is irrelevant.

As regards relations between the coalition forces, Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), he said: “The question is why they are doing it now. I think the coalition is experiencing a crisis, and all the proposals are just symptoms of grave problems within the coalition,” he said.

According to Sargsyan, the reason is the aggravating domestic socio-economic problems, external pressure and the Egyptian revolution.

“Something has happened. Everybody is confused. There may be various opinions and comments. Social discontent may make political forces unite. The point is, however, that each force is seeking advantage of the situation,” the expert said.
