There is growing concern in Italy among entrepreneurs that the populist government, which has been operating since June, is becoming increasingly unreliable for business, Bloomberg reported.

According to the source, the Italian town of Rosignano owes its existence to an imposing chemicals complex perched on the seashore west of Florence.

However, nowadays the city has faced difficulties due to the ambiguity in the matter of future international investments in the enterprise.

The Italian government was reportedly unable to provide guarantees for the protection of investments by international companies in Italy, which calls into question multimillion deals and financing, the source noted.

According to entrepreneurs, the government’s energy policy could have a negative impact on the production site and make it less competitive. Entrepreneurs complain that the Italian authorities do not take seriously the problems in the industrial sector.

A similar situation and attitude towards populists is being formed in other European countries. For example, companies in the UK are struggling to overcome the fears and doubts with the Brexit process.

Some companies in Germany began to talk about threats to business from ultra-right populists, Bloomberg added.

In Italy, businessmen’s anxiety is reflected on the corporate level since the government’s coalition entered power in June. It is noted that by September the index of entrepreneurial confidence in Italy fell by almost 2%.
