The Secretary-General of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, Stefan Kramer in an interview with the Armenian community in Germany (ADK) has described the events of 1915 in Ottoman Turkey as genocide, writes Nouvelles d `Arménie.

“Based on the facts known to me, I can say that the mass killings of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire was genocide. But more importantly, for these events legal responsibility lays on the Turkish government. Already in 1998 the Council of Europe described the crimes against the Armenians as genocide. The same did the U.S. Congress adopted a resolution on the Armenian Genocide. We emphasize that the overwhelming majority of European scientists share similar views,” said Kramer. According to him, the Turkish government which is unwilling to accept the facts expressed in the world,  must begin to work and take appropriate action. “Of course, we are not saying that you need to lynch the Turks for the crimes of their ancestors, but we must begin the process of recognition of the crimes and establish the facts. This should finally begin”, he said.

“The responsibility for these crimes lays on each of us ... Unfortunately, this subject is silenced because of political interests of major powers and a NATO partner Turkey”, summed up the general secretary of the Central Council of Jews in Germany.
