YEREVAN. – A criminal case has been filed into the wounding of a soldier of the Armenian Armed Forces.

On December 16, at around 11:40pm, a senior lieutenant of a military unit of the Ministry of Defense violated the rules of handling weapons at a combat position, the Investigative Committee of Armenia informed.

He fired shots from the automatic weapon assigned to him and negligently caused a gunshot wound to contract soldier Armen Harutyunyan.

Harutyunyan was taken to a military hospital.

A criminal case has been launched into this incident.

An investigation is in progress.
