According to some information in Azerbaijan, the authorities are going to remove Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov from his post. He will be replaced by Azerbaijani Ambassador to U.S. Yashar Aliyev, the Azg daily writes.
Some Azerbaijani experts did not rule out the possibility of Mammadyarov’s resignation on the threshold of parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan.
It is yet unclear whether it is conditioned by the current situation on the Karabakh conflict settlement or the country’s internal situation. Mammadyarov has held this position since the time of Aliyev Elder.
His resignation is unlikely to bring about changes in Azerbaijan’s foreign policy. It is noteworthy Mammadayarov’s resignation is rumored on the background of information on presidents’ trilateral meeting in Sochi.
