Two people are dead and three others—injured as a result of a major road accident Wednesday in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia, as a Lexus and a Mercedes have crashed head-on, at around 11։30pm.

According to shamshyan.com, two people died on the spot while three others suffered severe injuries and were hospitalized.

Rescue squads were dispatched to the scene. 

The rescuers removed the Mercedes’ driver out of the vehicle by using special equipment.

The casualties are the aforesaid driver and a resident of Geghamasar village of Gegharkunik Province, and the injured are a woman as well as two men in the Lexus.

And on Thursday at around 12։30am, a person informed the police that his Lexus had been stolen some time ago. The law enforcement found out that that this was the same vehicle involved in this road accident. In addition, foreign license plates were discovered in its trunk.

It was also found out that, on its way to the Yerevan international airport, this Lexus had collided with the concrete dividing line of the road, subsequently—to an iron advertising column, and then it went onto the opposite lane and crashed head-on with the abovementioned Mercedes.
