The US has demanded from Turkey not to purchase the Russian-made S-400 missile defense system, and, instead, it has offered the American-made Patriot missile defense system, Lenta.ru reported citing Yeni Şafak newspaper of Turkey.

During the negotiations, representatives of the American delegation that arrived in Ankara have posited a respective condition before the Turkish foreign ministry and defense ministry: canceling the S-400 orders.

The US offer to supply the Patriot, however, does not include any discounts or provision of technology.

The cost of the American missile defense system deal is $3.5 billion, whereas the purchase of the S-400s will be cheaper.
