Staple goods have sharply risen in price in Armenia, the Hayots Ashkharh (Armenian World) newspaper writes.

According to official information, a 15% rise in food prices has been registered in Armenia over the past year. However, real inflation is much higher.

Specifically, the wheat price had reached 178 AMD per kilo by Feb. 1 – a rise of 41 AMD (30% inflation).

The price for bread made of superfine flour has shown a 100 AMD rise over the past year and reached 455 AMD per kilo.

The buckwheat price has doubled in price – 534 AMD up to 1,070 AMD per kilo.

According to official information, beef price has reached 2,500 AMD per kilo – a rise of 600 AMD over the past year (35% inflation). Pork price has hardly changed, while mutton price reached 3,300 AMD per kilo – a 450 AMD rise. Trout price has reached 240 AMD per kilo – a 320 AMD rise.

Potato price has set a record, 270 AMD per kilo – a 2.5-fold rise.
