YEREVAN. – Attorneys of Armenian ex-MP and retired General Manvel Grigoryan will petition to the European Court of Human Rights.

Grigoryan is charged with unlawfully acquiring and possessing weapons and ammunition, as well as committing large-scale embezzlement. In particular, it is about the appropriation of the aid that was sent during the days of the four-day war in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh), in April 2016.

His attorney Arsen Mkrtchyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the investigators and prosecutor’s office did everything “so that the case reached ECHR”.

The attorneys will petition to the European Court regarding his health condition and the Article 5 of the Convention (the right to liberty and security of person).

Last week the Criminal Court of Appeal on Tuesday issued its ruling and granted the attorney general’s office appeal of the first instance court’s decision on releasing Grigoryan from prison on bail.
