Armenian parliament will hold hearings on gas supplies and gas price policy during the next four-day session.

The relevant decision was made by Armenian Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan, head of standing committee on economic affairs Vardan Ayvazyan and chairman of the ARF Dashnaktsutyun parliamentary group Vahan Hovhannisyan.

Addressing the MPs, Vahan Hovhannisyan said Russia should determine whether Armenia is its strategic partner or not. “If it is, then Moscow should carry out relevant policy. If we are not partners Russia should state it precisely for Armenia to review its strategy,” he said.

Armenian parliament will consider the proposal of ARF Dashnaktsutyun (ARFD) to set up an interim committee to deal with issues concerning gas supply. At today’s hearings in parliament the ARFD members expressed discontent with high gas prices for Armenian consumers.

Last week summing up results of the meeting of Armenian and Russian leaders spokesperson for Armenian president said the gas price for Armenian consumers will not be raised this year. Moreover, it will be reduced for socially vulnerable sections of population.
