YEREVAN. – The International Monetary Fund is ready to support Armenia, chief of the IMF Armenian mission Hossein Samiei said during the meeting with PM Nikol Pashinyan on Tuesday.
Pashinyan noted the importance of effective cooperation with the IMF and the continued assistance provided by the foundation to Armenia’s economic reforms. The PM emphasized that the government is focused on the reforms in various fields, including those related to the fight against corruption, the tax and legal systems, as well as in the area of public administration. According to Pashinyan, the reforms are aimed at simplifying the tax policy, improving the business environment, encouraging investment, and increasing the independence of the judicial system.
In turn, Samiei stated that the joint work will contribute to the reforms implemented in Armenia in the economic sphere. Positively assessing the steps being implemented by the Armenian government, he added that the IMF is ready to continue supporting the government to move the reforms forward. The IMF, he said, is interested in implementing effective programs.
The interlocutors also exchanged views on a number of issues included in the bilateral cooperation agenda.
