Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi called on the United Nations to set up a fact finding committee to investigate the situation in the country, RIA Novosti reports referring to AFP.

A wave of unrest is continuing to spread across the Arab world following the uprisings in Tunisia and Egypt, Bahrain, Yemen.

According to some sources, 600-2000 people were killed, 4000 injured in anti-government protests in Libya. The demonstrators protest against Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi’s regime, who has been in power for more than 40 years.

Four Armenian citizens were evacuated from Libya last Wednesday. They left for Moscow by a Russian plane.
