Thousands of Libyans would die if the United States or NATO enters Libya, Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi said in a televised statement on March 2, RIA Novosti reports.

On March 1, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice said the United States will keep pressure on Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi until he steps down.

A wave of unrest is continuing to spread across the Arab world following the uprisings in Tunisia and Egypt, Bahrain, Yemen and Libya. The demonstrators protest against Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi’s regime, who has been in power for more than 40 years.

Four Armenian citizens were evacuated from Libya last Wednesday. They left for Moscow by a Russian plane.
