A truck of a military unit of the Ministry of Defense (MOD) of Armenia had an accident Thursday.

At 8:31pm, the 911 emergency hotline received a report that an MOD vehicle had turned over on the Meghri-Tsirani Dzor motorway, there were affected, and rescuers were needed.

It was found out that the military truck had gone off road, crashed into a rock, and turned over.

Prior to the rescuers’ arrival at the scene, however, 18 military servicemen were taken to Meghri Regional Medical Center.

Center director Lusine Vardanyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that most of the injured conscripts were administered first aid at this medical center, and then they were transferred to a military hospital.

She noted that 20 servicemen, including an officer and the truck driver, were initially brought to the medical center.

In Vardanyan’s words, four conscripts are currently being treated at the medical center, and, in all likelihood, one of them will be transferred to another hospital for surgery.

The physicians said the injured are in satisfactory condition, and their injuries are not life-threatening.
