The film-maker Tigran Khzmalyan, who is a member of the Sardarapat movement, respects some intellectuals` initiative to hold a silence protest in Liberty Square in Yerevan.

"I respect any initiative to build up morals and solidarity. It is from this perspective that I view Armenian intellectuals` initiative. But I am not going to take part in the picket as it is an inadequate way of struggling," Khzmalyan told journalists April 4.

Since April 2, some Armenian intellectuals have been holding a silent protest in Liberty Square in Yerevan. They are protesting against political and other problems in the country. The member of the Heritage parliamentary faction Larisa Alaversyan, ethnographer Hranush Kharatyan and scholar Anahit Tonoyan started the protest last Saturday. Other groups will replace the three intellectuals from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. every day.
