The role of Armenia in the process of concluding a free trade agreement between the Eurasian Union and Iran is very important and serious, said Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan.

According to him, if the Eurasian Union establishes preferential terms of trade with any state or integration associations, it is natural that this is beneficial to each individual state, as well as to the Union as a whole.

“It is no accident thatArmenia initiated the process of agreement with Iran. We contacted in writing and the process was started. We played a serious role in the process of concluding this agreement,” he said.

He considers this agreement to be especially important for Armenia, since the republic is the only member state of the Eurasian Union with which Iran has a land border.

The interim deal between the union and Iran entered into force on October 27, 2019.
