This bill proposes to increase the amount of compensation paid to an owner in exchange of property that is alienated. This is what co-author of the bill, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Vahe Enfiajyan, who represents the Prosperous Armenia Party, declared during a discussion on the bill on making amendments to the law on alienation of property for ensuring overriding public interest held as part of the session of the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs of the National Assembly today.

According to him, unlawful actions are recorded and arbitrary approaches are applied in areas that are recognized as areas of overriding public interest. By the existing law, an adequate compensation is paid for alienated property, and adequate is deemed to be the amount that exceeds 15% of the market price of the alienated property, but the deputies suggest increasing the indicator by up to 25%.

However, Deputy Minister of Justice Rafik Grigoryan presented the negative conclusion of the government. “Those issues are mainly linked to expert examinations, wrong assessments and the standards of overriding interest, not the definition of compensation that is specified in the bill,” Grigoryan said.

After long discussions, the Committee also gave a negative conclusion.
