YEREVAN. - After the March 17 rally, the Armenian National Congress (ANC) entered into a dialogue with the authorities, while pinning a label on Chairman of the Rule of Law party Artur Baghdasaryan, Ruben Hakobyan, Vice-Chairman of the Heritage Party, told journalists April 11. The authorities have partly satisfied two of the ANC`s demands made at the March 17 rally, namely, the release of political prisoners and permission to hold rallies in Liberty Square. The third demand, bringing to justice those responsible for the March 1, 2008 events, though "a little more serious", will be met as well.

Hakobyan believes that law-enforcement executives "from the middle level up," as well as security guards of Armenian oligarchs, must be held responsible. According to some information, oligarchs` security staffers were involved in the March 1 tragedy as well. "Everything is clear here: both Serzh Sargsyan and Levon Ter-Petrosyan will not be held responsible for March 1," Hakobyan said.

The ANC is a "lightweight political force impeding the unification of the opposition forces." Since it wad formed three years ago, the ANC, in the person of Levon Ter-Petrosyan, has been calling those cooperating with the authorities "rascals" and "traitors."

Hakobyan offers Ter-Petrosyan to apologize to Chairman of the Rule of Law party Artur Baghdasaryan for calling him a "traitor." Following the 2008 presidential election, Baghdasaryan publicly agreed to cooperate with the authorities thereby avoiding involvement in the March 1 tragedy, which claimed ten lives. On the other hand, three years later, at the cost of ten human lives, the ANC eventually agreed to cooperate with the authorities as well. "It is at least immoral," Hakobyan said.
