Boeing fired CEO Dennis Muilenburg amid company efforts to regain the trust of regulators, customers and the public after two plane crashes of its bestselling 737 Max. David Calhoun will become the new CEO, CNBC reported.

Both disasters led to numerous investigations, including a federal criminal investigation, on the development and certification of aircraft by the Federal Aviation Administration in 2017. Earlier this month, Boeing announced that it would suspend the production of the 737 Max early next year.
