YEREVAN. - Turkey militarizes the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and its military and military-technical cooperation contributes to Baku to feel confident in solving the Karabakh conflict by military means, expert in Turkic studies Levon Hovsepyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
The expert stressed that Azerbaijan is the only state wishing to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict by military means, however its confidence is conditioned by Turkey-pursued policy. According to Hovsepyan, Turkey provides weapons to Azerbaijan in huge quantities and is developing Baku’s military-technical potential.
“Military cooperation between the two countries is developing in all directions, from staff trainings to military maneuvers. There is some evidence that Azerbaijani saboteurs are trained at Turkish army’s special units,” the expert noted.
Hovsepyan also referred to Turkey’s open support to Azerbaijan within international agencies.
“Ankara contributes significantly to Baku’s terrorist policy. The international community and leaders of organizations expressed their condemnation and concern over Azerbaijan’s warlike statements to shoot down Armenian civilian aircrafts. However, Turkish Foreign Minister supported Azerbaijan’s belligerence and called the construction of Stepanakert’s airport provocative,” Hovsepian emphasized.
The expert stressed that the statement was made by a foreign minister of a country, whose policy is full of provocations and history is rich in aggressions and genocides.
