YEREVAN. - Turkey’s pressure on European agencies is rather strong, head of “Heritage” parliamentary group Stepan Safaryan told Armenian News-NEWS.am, commenting on the decision by the French senate to reject the bill criminalizing the Armenian Genocide.

The MP recalled that France recognized the Armenian Genocide and the current vote will not have an emotional impact either on the French or the Armenian side. He stressed that the voting results were not expected with bated breath. For this reason, the MP did not see any problems. “But if France had major problems with Turkey, voting results might have been different,” Safaryan noted.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, French Senate rejected the bill penalizing denial of the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Empire with 196 votes “against” and 74 “for”.
