Ukraine’s Ministry of Internal Affairs has revealed the real name of 'Maksym Plohoi', who took 10 people hostage in Lutsk, 112 International reported referring to Deputy Interior Minister Anton Herashchenko.

"The suspect’s name is Kryvosh Maksym Stepanovich, born in 1975. A native of the village of Gai, Orenburg region of the Russian Federation," Gerashchenko noted.

According to him, Kryvosh had been convicted and served a sentence of imprisonment for some serious crimes in correctional facilities for a total of nearly 10 years.

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he had taken the situation with bus hijack in Lutsk under personal control.

"A disturbing news coming from Lutsk. In the morning, at 9:25, a citizen called the local police and reported that he had hijacked a bus with hostages on it. Shots were heard, the bus is damaged. The police operation ‘Hostage’ has been introduced, and the State Security Service has imposed a plan ‘Boomerang’ ... I keep the course of events under personal control," Zelenskyy wrote.
