Seven people were shot dead at an illegal marijuana plantation in a small town in Southern California. Police suspect organized crime is behind the offense, the Associated Press reported.

Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco said over 20 people were living at the marijuana plant. There were several temporary buildings and machines used in production.

Six people died on the spot, while one of the victims, a woman, died in hospital.
