The Democrat lawmakers who are conducting the Donald Trump impeachment case have asked the former US president to testify along the lines of the charges of inciting insurgency during his supporters’ attempt to attack the Capitol in early January.

Democrat Congressman Jamie Raskin noted about this in a letter he sent to Trump ahead of the Feb. 9 Senate hearing.

Ruskin sent the letter after Trump's lawyers filed a pre-trial letter denying allegations that he encouraged his supporters to attack the US Congress.

Trump will stand trial before the Senate next week.

Raskin asked Trump to testify and be cross-examined on February 8-11.

Ruskin warned that if Trump refused to testify, prosecutors in the impeachment case could cite it as evidence of his guilt.

Jamie Raskin gave Donald Trump until Friday 5pm to respond to his letter.
