Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan insists on a two-state solution to the Cyprus issue; the federation advocated by Athens will not be on the agenda of the upcoming talks, Reuters reported.

Earlier, the leaders of Greece and Cyprus said that they are in favor of solving the Cyprus issue on the basis of UN resolutions, rejecting the two-state formula, supported by Turkey. Negotiations under the auspices of the UN are scheduled for next month.

Erdogan also said that he could not meet with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, despite the resumption of talks between the countries over the differences in the Mediterranean. Erdogan noted that Mitsotakis challenged him. The Turkish leaders called on the Greek PM to know his limits.
