YEREVAN. – The situation remains dire; certain processes are taking place. I believe we should report to each other regularly about the work done and future plans. Minister of Foreign Affairs Ara Aivazian stated this at Tuesday’s meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration, addressing the MPs of Armenia.

According to the FM, this work should be combined, as parliamentary diplomacy is highly valued at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).

He then stated that after the recent 44-day war in the South Caucasus, a rearrangement of forces at the regional level had begun, as well as a change in the influence of key players. "It is too early to give any assessment to the current realities and challenges which are still at the phase of achieving transparency. However, it is already possible to state that Russia has taken on the main role in terms of resolving the existing issues regarding ensuring the ceasefire, security, the humanitarian component in the region. Turkey's ambitions in regional processes also have obviously increased," Aivazian said.

Nevertheless, as the FM assured, the full security of the Armenian people has been and remains the cornerstone of the foreign policy of the MFA of Armenia.
