Authorities in 12 US states have sued US President Joe Biden over a decree he signed to protect public health and the environment, Fox News reported.

The lawsuit filed by Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt was joined by Attorneys General of the states of Arkansas, Arizona, Indiana, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Utah.

According to them, the decree of the head of state violates the principle of separation of powers, as it expands the powers of federal regulators. Such an expansion could cause serious damage to the economy, the plaintiffs say.

Thus, the Biden decree guarantees the right of the US federal authorities to approve figures for the social costs of greenhouse gases, based on which federal regulators can change and introduce new provisions.

The states that went to court are confident that this will allow federal regulators to intervene in every aspect of American life - from their cars to refrigerators and homes, groceries and electricity bills.
