Lebanese acting Foreign Minister Charbel Wehbe stepped down on Wednesday after unfriendly remarks to Saudi Arabia.

According to the news portal Lebanon 24, Wahbi met in the presidential palace with the head of state Michel Aoun, and handed him a letter of resignation, TASS reported.

On Tuesday, the Saudi Foreign Ministry handed a note to the Lebanese ambassador in Riyadh, in which it protested against Wahbi's offensive remarks aired on the Alhurra TV channel. The note said that such statements do not correspond to elementary diplomatic norms and historical relations between the two fraternal peoples.
