Singapore has demanded that Facebook and Twitter send users a notification to correct false claims about the COVID-19 new strain that originated in Singapore, Reuters reports.

The health ministry said it was aware of a statement shared in the media and social media platforms.

Correction orders were issued in accordance with the Singapore fake news act or the Internet lies and online trickery act.

The health ministry said there is no evidence that any variant of COVID-19 is extremely dangerous for children. The ministry noted that the B16172 strain, found in many new cases of COVID-19 in Singapore, was first detected in India.
