Arkadi Khachatryan, a member of the opposition Bright Armenia faction in the National Assembly, has commented on why he is not on the opposition Bright Armenia Party electoral list for the snap parliamentary elections on June 20.

"The fact that I am not included in the electoral list of Bright Armenia is the result of my decision, which is conditioned by my wish not to continue my activity in the Legislature and to return to the financial and economic sphere, which is much closer to my heart.

I am convinced that the most serious challenges currently facing the Republic of Armenia, first of all, the issue of security, can be resolved only through our unity and consolidation.

After the end of the term of office of the [current] National Assembly, I plan to return to the professional field of finance and economy and the academic sphere, and continue to serve the Republic of Armenia, as I have done for the previous twenty years," Khachatryan wrote, in particular, on Facebook.
