The European Union (EU) authorities are discussing the possibility of imposing sanctions against the Russian air carrier Aeroflot as part of a new package of restrictive measures against Belarus due to the migration crisis on the border with Poland, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing an unnamed European official familiar with the plans.

According to this official, restrictions may be imposed on individuals and companies involved in transporting migrants to the EU via Belarus. In addition to Aeroflot, Turkish Airlines may also be subject to penalties. The EU may announce new restrictions jointly with the US and UK in early December, the official said.
